Class Descriptions

Pre School Ballet (2.5 Years +) 

A creative class where the children are taken on adventures through dance. Using props and lots of imagination, the children will learn basic ballet steps and movements in a fun and friendly environment.

RAD Pre-Primary Ballet (approx Primary 1) 

This class leads on from Pre School Ballet and follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus where the skills that have been learnt already are put into a more formal setting and students will further progress to the very beginnings of classical ballet technique.

RAD Primary Ballet (approx Primary 2/3) 

This class follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and will focus on further developing co-ordination, balance and posture along with new ballet steps and positions.

RAD Ballet Grades 1-8 (approx Primary 3+)

Following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, these grades provide a structured progression through classical ballet technique and performance skills.

RAD Vocational Ballet Grades (10 Years +)

Following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, the vocational grades are aimed at students who wish to pursue a career involving ballet or dance and those who show particular talents or potential in classical ballet.

Non Syllabus Ballet Technique (7 Years +)

A 'free work' based ballet class focusing on technique and artistry. Using exercises and choreography created by the teacher rather than following a set syllabus. This class can either supplement syllabus training to enhance progression or be taken as a stand-alone class. Students will be learning different combinations of exercises weekly to a range of musical styles which helps to improve pick up rate as well as knowledge, understanding and application of ballet technique.

Progressing Ballet Technique (7 Years +)

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best. One of the important elements used in the PBT method is muscle memory which helps to improve students' understanding of core stability, weight placement and alignment. Each exercise in the PBT program has been developed with care and guidance by Marie Walton-Mahon along with a team of physiotherapists.

Body Strengthening & Stretch (9 Years +)

This class focuses on dance specific conditioning exercises including floor barre & Progressing Ballet Technique as well as toning, stamina, flexibility, balance and core training.

Foot Strengthening & Pre/Pointe Work* (8 Years +)

A safe and structured class designed to strengthen the necessary muscles required to dance on pointe through strengthening exercises of the legs, feet, core and glutes.

*Students will be assessed throughout this class and will only be permitted to wear pointe shoes once they have gained the required level of strength and development. (12 Years +)

Mini Dance Tap & Jazz (4 Years - P1)

A fun and creative class designed to develop a sense of rhythm, timing and musicality. Students will learn tap and jazz techniques to enable them to produce clear beats and sounds as they progress through technical exercises and dances.

ISTD Tap & Modern (P2+)

Following the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus, these grades provide a structured progression through Tap and Modern dance techniques and performance skills. The Modern element incorporates Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance.

Acrobatic Arts (P2+)

A mixed level class, following the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, where students are taught acrobatic skills which can be incorporated in to acrobatic dance.
